Create. Capture. Combine.

Global Collective is the brand-new summer project where performing arts meets digital media. For two weeks, young people aged 8-18 will work with professional creatives to explore artforms from all over the world. The project will end with a performance in the new state-of-the-art theatre at Leeds City College, showcasing original material from the young people themselves.

WHEN AND WHERE

Global Collective takes place during the school summer holiday:

Monday 27th July – Friday 7th August 2020, 9am – 3pm daily (excluding weekends)

Leeds City College, Quarry Hill Campus, Playhouse Square, Leeds LS2 7BS

FEES

The fees for the two-week project are £240 per participant. We encourage all participants to attend for the full two weeks of Global Collective and do not offer the option of attending for one week only.

We do not want cost to be a barrier to any potential members so we also offer a limited number of bursaries to families on a low income. These are funded by the Ann Maguire Arts Education Fund. If you would like to apply for a bursary place, please fill in this form and send a letter of support from a teacher to Selina McGonagle ([email protected]).

WHO IS IT FOR?

Everyone is welcome at Global Collective! The programme is designed for young people aged 8-18 (up to 25 with a learning disability) with varying levels of experience. We will be exploring artforms from all over the world so participants will develop existing talents and discover new interests.

WHAT WILL WE BE DOING?

Throughout the two weeks participants will be working in groups of mixed age and ability to explore a mixture of performance arts and digital media. They will be introduced to capturing, editing and presenting visual and sound material as well as performance skills in singing, acting and movement. The project will begin with short ‘taster workshops’, that explore artforms from all over the world. Participants will then dig deeper into the areas they enjoy – whether it is podcasting or Polish dance – and work with international artists to develop their skills and prepare for a performance in Leeds city centre.

Global Collective gives participants the chance to learn about themselves through the arts, while working in a fun yet professional environment with some of the best artists Leeds has to offer.
