What's On Voices Commmunity Choir Voices are a Leeds-based community choir that combines big hearts, big voices and a love of singing. Voices was founded in 2010 by Cleve Freckleton who led them until summer of 2019. Currently the choir is led by musical director Christella Litras and choir director Victoria Reynard in collaboration with the Geraldine Connor Foundation. Mainly singing gospel-inspired music, the choir has previously performed pieces such as Curtis Mayfield’s ‘Move on Up’, ‘Something Inside So Strong’, and ‘Do Your Thing’ by Basement Jaxx. They have performed in well-known venues around Leeds such as Leeds Playhouse, The Corn Exchange and The Wardrobe. We are hoping that this collaboration will lead to new and exciting ventures for the choir and it will allow GCF to branch out and reach more people. Everyone is welcome, with experience or without! All you need to bring is enthusiasm and a love for singing. The choir meets on Tuesdays 7pm – 8:30pm at Yorkshire Dance. Sessions are £5 per week, but they operate on a ‘pay-as-you-feel’ basis so you can pay what you can afford to attend. If you are a newcomer feel free to turn up and your first session will be free. Please note: Voices have suspended their rehearsals for the time being due to updated government advice on the COVID-19 pandemic. The choir are determined to bounce back stronger than ever so watch this space to find out when rehearsals will start again.
