What is Global Mash Up?

Global Mash Up is a free, fun-filled week of creative activities from across the globe. Young people aged 8-16 will get the chance to work with the very best international artists to explore artforms from all over the world, including music, dance, storytelling and den-building.

When and Where is Global Mash Up?

Wednesday 19th February- Friday 21st February 2019, 9am-3pm.

Please be on time to ensure your child gains the most out of their experience. We expect your child to attend all sessions unless otherwise arranged. If your child is ill please phone ahead on the number: 07384 445 287.

It is important that you drop-off and collect your child from Ebor Gardens Community Centre. If they are planning on travelling alone, please let us know on the registration form

Arrival - 9am   *Performance - 1:00pm Collection - 2:00pm

*On the Friday the children will have the opportunity to share a performance of the work they have created during the week. We would like to invite family and friends to attend this event, please arrive by 12:45pm for a 1:00pm start. Parents will be allowed to take children home after the performance.


Requirements

Global Mash Up is an activity week for children and young people aged 8-16.

 In order to participate fully, your child must have:

  • A completed registration form. We will not allow you to leave your child in our care if we have not received this. This form is available on our website. If you cannot fill in the online form, there is a downloadable version that you can email to [email protected] or post to:

Please ensure you have sent this completed to us by Wednesday 12th February 2020 in order to secure a place for your child.

  • A healthy packed lunch with plenty to drink to stay hydrated.
  • All medications packed in a clear bag with your child’s name and full instructions – please ensure a member of staff is aware of your child’s medication requirements at registration on Wednesday 19th February. There is also space to let us know on the registration form.
  • Ensure you child comes dressed in trainers or other appropriate footwear and loose comfortable clothing.
  • Breeze Card (optional)

 Please do not bring valuables as they can easily get lost or broken.

Breeze Cultural Monitoring

In order to monitor activities for children in Leeds the Geraldine Connor Foundation is part of the Breeze card scheme. The Breeze Card enables young people to receive discounts on sports and entertainment as well borrow books from libraries in Leeds. If you child already has a Breeze Card, please bring it to registration on Monday 28th Oct. If you would like to find out more or purchase a Breeze card you can do so here.

Alternatively, we will have Breeze Card’s available on the day.

Activity Details

There will be a variety of workshops throughout the week exploring music, dance, and spoken word from across the world. Participants of Global Mash Up will be given the opportunity to explore different cultural stories, instruments, and styles of dance. We expect all young people to participate in 100% of the activities. Leading Artist: Christella Litras

Christella is a composer and musician and has worked with the Geraldine Connor Foundation on many occasions, leading participatory workshops with children and young people. She works with arts education networks across Leeds and West Yorkshire, including the Leeds Playhouse, and works to develop and facilitate musical opportunity within the region.
